WYB Hit-A-Thon

We ask that everyone come in their WYB uniform and check-in before heading to the field. At check-in, we will be handing out tickets to each player that will allow them to get a snack and drink (external from the snackstand).

The schedule for the Hit-A-Thon is below:

Low Minors:
Coach Pitch – 11:30-12:30 (check-in at 11am)
Quickball – 1:00-2:00 (check-in at 12:30pm)

Machine Pitch – 11:30-12:30 (check-in at 11am)
Low Minors – 1:00-2:00 (check-in at 12:30pm)

Majors – 11:30-12:30 (check-in at 11am)
Minors – 1:00-2:00 (check-in at 12:30pm)

During the Hit-A-Thon, each child will get 5 hits or 10 swings, whichever comes first. They will be scored based on how far the ball travels. Each division will award trophies to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers AND the team that scores the best for their division will be rewarded with a prize from the snackstand. So, not only is the event an individually scored event but it’s also a TEAM competition event.

Along with the Hit-A-Thon, we will have the Phillie Phanatic running around between 11:30-12:30, several vendors and sponsors setup around the snackstand and we will have raffle baskets to win (winners will be announced at the FUNraiser night event at Bar Louie, as well as posted on our Facebook page for later pickup if you can’t attend the night event). We will also have a Barness Park re-dedication ceremony around 12:30 which will bring WYB, WWSO, Warrington A’s and Warrington Township together.

WYB is pleased to announce our upcoming Hit-A-Thon, sponsored by SofterWare, Inc!

The Hit-A-Thon will take place on May 20th, 2017 as part of our FUNday. This will be a great time to have some fun with your teammates, friends and meet some of our wonderful sponsors!! Spread the word and invite friends and family, no matter if they are already involved with WYB or not.

Who is invited to take part in the Hit-A-Thon?

All WYB players are invited to take part in the Hit-A-Thon, no matter if they receive a donation or not. This is a league wide event and all are encouraged to enjoy the event. We are hoping for 100% participation as this event is for the kids and families.

When will my child be hitting?

Coach Pitch (Low Minors field), Machine Pitch (Minors field) and Majors (TRF field) will hit starting at 11:30am. Quick Ball (Low Minors field), Low Minors (Minors field) and Minors (TRF field) will hit starting at 1:00pm.

There will be a registration table setup 30 minutes prior to each hitting time where each family should check-in so we have a list of the participants.

How does the Hit-A-Thon work?

The Hit-A-Thon is very similar to a walk-a-thon. Each player solicits sponsors who pledge to make a tax-deductible donation to WYB. Each player gets five hits which will be scored by a point system based on how far the ball travels. The points for those five hits will be totaled for the player’s score and ranked for his/her age division.

How do I make a donation?

Online donations can be accepted through WYB’s 99 Pledges website at https://99pledges.com/fund/wyb. Each player will have their own unique link to be shared with potential donors. You will receive your unique link via a separate email from 99 Pledges… be on the lookup for that email soon. You can also search for by a player’s name on the 99 Pledges website.

WYB will also accept checks and cash donations. Please mail these donations to:

WYB Hit-A-Thon
2121 Martindale Rd
Warrington, PA 18976

Alternatively, we can make arrangements to have your in-house coach deliver your check or cash donation.

If you are sending in payment in the form of a check or cash, please make sure you accompany your donation with the player’s FIRST and LAST name so we can attribute the donation to the correct player.

All pledge money is due by 8pm on Thursday, May 18th to be attributed towards the prizes available. We will accept donations up through the end of the event on Saturday, May 20th.

What is WYB raising funds for?

The money raised during all WYB fundraisers is put directly back into our organization. From lights, to field improvements, to equipment, the success of our program is dependent on fundraising.

Are there prizes for the kids?

Of course!

Each age division will have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finisher in the Hit-A-Thon. For those ages that have travel team(s), those players will compete against other travel players within their own division.

Prizes will also be given out based on the amount of donations brought in.

Grand Prize
The player who raises the most money will receive 4 tickets to a 2017 Phillies game (date mutually agreed upon) along with other Phillies merchandise.

2nd Place
The player who raises the second most money will receive 4 field level tickets to a 2017 Lehigh Valley IronPigs game.

3rd Place
The player who raises the third most money will receive 6 general admission tickets to a 2017 Reading Fightin Phils game.

Additional Prize
The player who raises the most money between May 4th and May 18th will receive 2 field level tickets to a 2017 Lehigh Valley IronPigs game.

What are the best practices to collecting donations?

Step 1: Make a donation yourself. Lead the way by making your donation first. It encourages people you know to support your child and make a donation.
Tip: Add a note of encouragement along with your donation.

Step 2: Email 10 of your closest friends and family members. Let them know about our Hit-A-Thon. Invite them out to the event on May 20th to watch your child take their swings. Provide them with the unique link to your child’s page and ask that they make a donation to help your child and our organization.
Tip: Remind your friends and family, any amount helps!

Step 3: Post your child’s unique link on social media and advertise the event.
Tip: The 99 Pledges site has social sharing links right on your child’s unique page.

Step 4: Let your co-workers know about the event. Many companies will be interested in a corporate donation matching the amount of money your child raises.
Tip: Approach co-workers whom have children that you have supported in the past with their fundraisers.
